Do you love baking at home, but your results never quite match up to your expectations?? Through hands-on cooking and demonstrations, our chef instructors aim to demystify the techniques behind exquisite desserts and pastries. Through their guidance, you will leave our kitchen with the expertise required to prepare delicious home-baked goods. Day 1 - Strawberry Tart - Pastry, chocolate and jam Through constructing our chocolate and strawberry tart we will demonstrate how to handle pie dough to prepare a beautiful tart pastry base, how to turn wonderfully ripe fruit into preserves and glazes and how to make a chocolate ganache and turn it into decadent chocolate and amaretto truffles as well as a rich chocolate mousse. Day 2 - Donuts and Cinnamon rolls This class will get right into making yeasted dough, backed up with some theoretical knowledge learning the science and history of enriched doughs. You will learn how to make various fillings for the donuts and get to try both frying and baking methods. Day 3 - Choux pastry One of the most versatile pastries in any cooks’ arsenal, choux pastry can become anything from cheesy gnocchi to delicate French desserts. In this session, we’ll be using this dough as the base for profiteroles and Paris-Brest. Day 4 - Sponge Cake This final dessert will be a culmination of pastry principles covered throughout the course to create layers of baking perfection. We'll go through the process of creating a meringue to add lightness to a chiffon sponge, prepare a crème patissier and a crème chantilly to add creaminess Do I need to bring anything with me? We do recommend you bring a reusable container along with you. Other than this we will provide you with an apron as well as all the ingredients, and equipment needed for the duration of the session.
